The former All-Star gets a spring invite

The Phillies announced a signing today, getting veteran utility man Josh Harrison on a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Harrison will probably serve as depth in case of injury, but with the addition of an extra roster spot this year, he’ll get a very real shot at making the team.

Let’s not pretend this is an earth shattering move. Harrison is not what he once was. His past 3 wRC+: 104, 77, 22. The chances that he is just done are actually quite high.

It’s a nice move if he’s ok with spending time in the minors, but expecting anything remotely productive from him is a fool’s wish.
