Sure it was great to revel in Thursday’s Opening Day, 10-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves for an extra day, but honestly, I think what we all wanted was some more baseball.
After the always inexplicable day off after the opener, the Phillies return to action this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park for Game No. 2 of their three-game series against the Atlanta Braves.
The lineup for today is exactly the same as Opening Day, and it likely the lineup you’re going to see most of the time here in 2019.

Nick Pivetta... that’s No. 2 starter Nick Pivetta... takes the ball for the Phils, and this is the lineup he’ll face.

The Braves will feature Bryse Wilson on the mound, most known for being the guy who always spells his first name wrong. Seriously, who spells Bryse with an “s”? He’s also known as the team’s No. 7 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and comes into the season as a top-100 prospect in every prospect ranking system.
He’ll be making just his second career start, which one would think would play into the Phils’ favor. However, they’ve had trouble with players they weren’t familiar with in recent seasons.
This weekend's SPs for Atlanta, Bryse Wilson and Kyle Wright, have 3 and 4 games of MLB experience, respectively.

Since 2010, the Phillies have only scored 4+ runs against a starter with 5 or fewer games of experience 19 times in 63 tries (30.2%). pic.twitter.com/SuYDFsdOFa
The Phillies have not started a season 2-0 since 2011. Today feels like a good day to update that statistic.
First pitch is set for 4:05pm ET.
