Game Thread 5/7: Phillies at Cardinals

The Phillies look to take one back from the St. Louis...

Last night was not exactly the way one would prefer to open a series against one of the leading teams in the National League. That said, the Phillies expect to return to Busch Stadium tonight with a thirst for vengeance, and avenge they shall.

Saint Louis will send Dakota Hudson, their first round draft pick of 2016, to the mound tonight. His first go-round in a starting role hasn’t exactly gone to plan, as he currently stands at a meager 4.80 ERA, a 1.73 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts over 30 frames of work. He’ll face a carbon copy of the Phillies Opening Day lineup, one that has brought them success in the past.

The Phillies will start their struggling ace, Aaron Nola, on the bump tonight, to face the usual suspects of the Cardinals’ lineup. Nola, who had his fair share of troubles to begin his 2019 campaign, has begun to right the ship in his last few outings. He will attempt to fully cement his confidence against a tough Saint Louis offense.

Lets make these Cardinals look like Canaries! Am I right...? Maybe?

Comment on how horrible my jokes are below! Oh — and I guess you can talk about the game, too.
