At least Cutch went rock: Dodgers 6 - Phillies 3

Wathan went scissors, the Phillies apparently went paper and the Dodgers went Spock and disproved paper

I give up

I’ve been informed previously that “Oh, goddamnit!” is not long enough for a recap and unlike last time I can’t recap the Sixers game. I imagine most of the east coasters gave up and went to bed around the 5th inning or so. Good news for you, that was about the appropriate time to stop watching.

This offense can get hot and pile up runs so I never really give up hope, but this never really felt like a game they were going to come back in. Kenta Maeda was weirdly dominant and outside of the titular McCutchen homer, the Phillies never really mounted a serious threat (the 5th inning Phils’ score was a bit more fluky, though certainly nice to get). In fact, Arrietta quickly went from getting the Phillies back in the game to putting the Dodgers back in control, giving up 2 homers in the bottom half of the same inning. The wind kind of went out of the sails from there out. Kingery tagged on an RBI single in the 9th to create a save opportunity for Kenley Jansen, which Andrew Knapp quickly took care of.

Every single Dodgers run was scored via home run. This might be a long weekend, but at least tonight is the only game cursed by having me on recap duty. Oh, goddamnit!
