Weekend Probables:

LHV: Tyler Viza, TBD, Enyel De Los Santos
REA: JoJo Romero, David Parkinson, TBD
LWD: Kevin Gowdy, Ethan Lindow, TBD
WIL: TBD, TBD, TBD

Gwinnett 5, Lehigh Valley 4 (11 innings)

Ramon Rosso - 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, 9 K, 4 GB, 4 FB (throwing error)
Mitch Walding - 0 for 4, BB, 2 K
Deivy Grullon - 0 for 4, BB, 2 K (fielding error)
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 5, R, RBI, 2 K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 1, K

That’s a heck of a AAA debut for Ramon Rosso. He’s a 23 year old righty who throws a low 90’s fastball and has a bit of a deceptive delivery. He owned a 3.15 ERA with 52 strikesouts in 54.1 innings before being promoted from AA. The offense tied the game in the bottom of the 9th to force extra innings, but wound up falling in the 11th. Kyle Dohy took the loss.

Reading 3, Erie 2

Adonis Medina - 7.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 5 K, HBP, 11 GB, 4 FB
Mickey Moniak - 1 for 4, R, 2 K
Josh Stephen - 1 for 4, K
Darick Hall - 1 for 4, 2B, K
Austin Listi - 1 for 3, BB, K
Cornelius Randolph - 3 for 4, R, 3B

Please more of this, Adonis Medina. He went a season-high 7.1 innings and was arguably his best start of the year. After a rough start to the season, Medina has hit a nice stride in his last 5 starts where he’s gone: 29 IP, 16 H, 4 ER, 11 BB, 22 K. Both of his earned runs in the game came in the 8th inning after throwing 56 of his 88 pitches for strikes. Randolph’s three-hit game last night was his first since May 22.

St. Lucie 3, Clearwater 2

Ethan Evanko - 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, BB, 6 K, HR, 6 GB, 6 FB
Simon Muzziotti - 0 for 3, BB, K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1 for 3, R, 2 K, HBP
Madison Stokes - 1 for 4, R, K
Nick Maton - 0 for 4, K
Matt Kroon - 1 for 2, 2 HBP (fielding error)

Clearwater had a 2-0 lead heading into the 5th inning before an unfortunate Matt Kroon error lead to 3 unearned runs and wound up being the difference in the game. The Thresher offense went 2 for 6 with RISP and left 7 on base. Simon Muzziotti has gotten a bit cold at the plate, going hitless in his last three games. The offense is a bit less exciting without Alec Bohm in the lineup.

Lakewood 4, Asheville 3

Francisco Morales - 3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, WP, HBP, 2 GB, 3 FB
Victor Santos - 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 3 GB, 3 FB
Jonathan Guzman - 2 for 4, R, 3B, RBI, K, CS
Abraham Gutierrez - 2 for 5, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Luis Garcia - 1 for 5, K, SB
Carlos De La Cruz - 1 for 4, 2B, BB, 2 K
Cole Stobbe - 1 for 3, R, BB, K
Ben Pelletier - 2 for 4, R, 2B, K
Jake Holmes - 1 for 3, RBI
Yerwin Trejo - 2 for 4, R, K, CS

Sometimes these are the outings you are going to get with Francisco Morales where he can’t seem to command his pitches. The strikeouts are nice though! He has 66 of those in 42 innings this season. Victor Santos gets the win and has a modest 3.46 ERA with 49 strikeouts to 9 walks in 52 innings. The Blue Claws won the game by scoring all three of their runs in the top of the 9th inning. They scored their runs on a Jake Holmes sac-fly, Jonathan Guzman RBI-triple and Abraham Gutierrez RBI-single.
