Lehigh Valley 9 - Toledo 5
Viza: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 5 K, HR, HBP
Hernandez: 2 for 5, 2B, K
Gosselin: 2 for 4, BB
Grullon: 1 for 4, BB, K
Canello: 4 for 5, K
Walding: 0 for 5, 4 K
Jesus, Walding. Your hold on a 40-Man spot really only existed because of the position you play and the scarcity of other options in the upper Minors. He’s hitting right at the Mendoza line and I can’t imagine his 40 man spot hangs around terribly long if they need any more relievers. On the plus side, nice start from Viza and good hitting by several AAAA journeymen.
Akron 3 - Reading 2
Akron 12 - Reading 6
Taveras: 3 IP, 4 H, K, HBP
Russ: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, K
Medina: 3 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 2 HR
Singer: 3 IP, 1 H, ER, 4 K, HR
Moniak: 2 for 8, K, BB
Hall: 3 for 8, 2 2B, BB, 2 K
Randolph: 4 for 7, 2 K, SB
Williams: 2 for 8, HR, 2 K
The 3-2 game was completion of a postponed game. Sadly no rain was available to save game 2. Terrible start from Medina. He was 41 for 66 in terms of strikes to number of pitches, he just didn’t fool anyone and when he got hit, he got hit hard.
Clearwater 9 - Daytona 4
Tommy Hunter: IP, K, 8 of 9 pitches were strikes
Maton: 1 for 2, 3 BB, E
Ortiz: 1 for 4, HR, 2 K
Muzziotti: 1 for 3, 2 BB, K, SB
Vierling: 3 for 4, 2B, SB
Tommy Hunter was efficient and it sounds like he could be back with the big club this weekend, allowing a current bullpen member to be fired into the sun (or boringly returned to LHV). Ortiz has homered in 3 straight games, it’s scary to think what he might be able to do in Reading if he’s really tapped into his power. Lastly Vierling has bounced back nicely from his slump of late.
Lakewood 5 - West Virginia 4
Pipkin: 1.1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, BB, WP
Mezquita: 3 IP, 2 H, ER, 3 K, 2 BB, HR
Guzman: 2 for 4, BB, K, 2B, SB
Marchan: 1 for 5, K
Garcia: 1 for 3, HR, 2 BB, K
The Homer for Garcia was his 3rd on the year. It’s also nice to see he still has a strong approach, despite his struggles he still has a 9%+ BB rate.
State College 7 - Williamsport 4
State College 7 - Williamsport 6
Tejada: 3 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 5 K, BB
Carvajal: 2.2 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 4 K, BB
Ramirez: 3.1 IP, 3 H, ER, 3 K, 3 BB
Gonzalez: 0 for 4
Simmons: 0 for 3, 2 K
Williams: 2 for 5, 2B, K, 3 BB, 3 SB
O’Hoppe: 0 for 4
Aparicio: 4 for 6, 2 2B, 3B
