The Iron Pigs were up 4-3 after the bottom of the 6th inning thanks to a surprisingly quality start from Ranger Suarez (he has a 5.68 ERA following the game). Alexis Rivero relieved him in the 7th inning where he promptly gave up 3 more runs to blow the lead and take the loss. Gift Ngoepe hit his 5th HR of the season, a solo shot in the 3rd inning. Though he’s had no hits in his last two starts, Deivy Grullon has worked 3 walks in that span. His season line sits at .329/.385/.549 with 9 HR and 52 strikeouts to 16 walks.

That’s about as ugly as a start as you’ll see this season for a pitcher going at least 4 innings. Falter saw his ERA jump from 3.05 to 4.10 following the game. The Fightin’s had the long ball working with dingers from Hall (10), Listi (4) and Williams (2). Mickey Moniak is riding a nice little five-game hitting streak. During that streak he is 7 for 18 with two doubles, a triple, a stolen base and 2 walks to 4 strikeouts.

Clearwater pulled off an impressive come-from-behind victory being down 6-0 after the 3rd inning. Matt Kroon hit his 1st HR with Clearwater to bring the game to 6-4. Danny Mayer would provide the heroics in the bottom of the 9th with his 5th HR of the year, a three-run blast. Matt Vierling has been ice-cold at the plate, hitting .206 with 13 strikeouts in his last 34 at-bats.

Despite being out-hit 6 to 3, Lakewood held onto a victory. Rafael Marchan’s RBI-single in the 6th inning wound up being the difference in the game. Manuel Silva earned his first win of his disappointing season (6.95 ERA). Ethan Lindow improved his season line to: 48.1 IP, 44 H, 16 ER, 13 BB, 53 K.
