Phillies MLR 6/5/19: The Kyle Glogoski hype should start building

Phillies Minor League Roundup for 6/5/19

MLB: Spring Training-Philadelphia Phillies at Toronto Blue Jays Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

Today’s Probables:

LHV: Drew Anderson
REA: Ramon Rosso
CLR: Ethan Evanko
LWD: Dominic Pipkin

Pawtucket 13, Lehigh Valley 2

Enyel De Los Santos - 3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 4 GB, 2 FB
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 4, 2 K
Deivy Grullon - 0 for 4, K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 4, 3 K
Malquin Canelo - 2 for 4, R, 2B (fielding error)

An embarrassing loss for Lehigh Valley all-around. The relievers (Josh Tols, Josh Martin, Kyle Dohy, Luke Leftwich and utility infielder Jose Antequera) gave up a combined 12 hits, 7 walks and 11 earned runs. The offense despite collecting 10 hits had only one extra-base hit and were 1 for 7 with RISP. In fun news, Jan Hernandez returned from a lengthy IL stint. He played CF last night and was his first game since April 26.

Akron 2, Reading 0

Mauricio Llovera - 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, 2 WP, 5 GB, 4 FB
Mickey Moniak - 0 for 3, BB
Darick Hall - 0 for 3, HBP
Austin Listi - 1 for 4, K
Cornelius Randolph - 1 for 4, 2 K
Josh Stephen 1 for 4, 2B
Luke Williams - 1 for 4, 2B, K
Jose Gomez - 1 for 4, K, CS (throwing error)

Mauricio Lovera produces his best start of the season, only to get no offensive help behind him. The three hits he allowed to Akron were the only hits given up by Reading in the game. Given the Phillies injury woes in the bullpen, I’m wondering if Llovera might get a shot there in the not too near future to see how he does. Mickey Moniak saw his modest five-game hitting streak come to an end, but he got another walk...so that is something.

Jupiter 1, Clearwater 0

Julian Garcia - 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, HR, 2 WP, 5 GB, 2 FB
Simon Muzziotti - 0 for 3, BB, K, SB
Alec Bohm - 0 for 4, K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 0 for 3
Matt Kroon - 0 for 3, 3 K
Nick Maton - 1 for 2, BB, CS
Rodolfo Duran - 0 for 3, K
Ben Aklinski - 1 for 3, K, CS

The Threshers were two-hit, while Julian Garcia tossed another great game. The 24 year old has a 3.17 ERA with 58 strikeouts to 14 walks in 54 innings. Alec Bohm hadn’t gone 0 for 4 in a game since May 18th. Simon Muzziotti stole his 9th base of the season, though he’s been caught 7 times as well.

Lakewood 3, Hagerstown 0

Kyle Glogoski - 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 6 K, HBP, 4 GB, 1 FB
Tyler McKay - 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K, 5 GB, 4 FB
Jonathan Guzman - 0 for 4, K
Rafael Marchan - 1 for 3, RBI, K, HBP
Luis Garcia - 0 for 4, K
Ben Pelletier - 0 for 3, 2 K
Carlos De La Cruz - 2 for 3, R, 3B, RBI
Yerwin Trejo - 1 for 3, R, 3B, RBI
Cole Stobbe - 0 for 3, 2 K

Kyle Glogoski probably remains one of the surprise prospects of the season so far. The 20 year old now holds a 0.76 ERA with 39 strikeouts to 6 walks in just 23.2 innings. I’d still put his ceiling towards the back-end of a rotation for now from what I’ve heard, but if he keeps this up we may all have to readjust this.
