In one of our biggest celebrations of the Philadelphia Phillies, every week the members of The Good Phight will be issuing one of baseball’s greatest achievements to date: The Good Phil of the Week Award. One MLB player and one MiLB player will receive the award each week and will be able to boast to their teammates that they are, in fact, a Good Phil.
This week, the fans joined the Good Phight Team in voting for the award.
Major League Good Phil of the Week: J.T. Realmuto
J.T. Realmuto’s grand slam on Sunday was the icing on the cake for a really good week for the best catcher in baseball. He hit three home runs and collected seven RBIs while increasing his OPS from .746 to .763. Other highlights of his week include catching the entire 15-inning win against Detroit and playing a complete game at first base the next day.
Other Good Phils Reveiving Votes:
Aaron Nola, Rhys Hoskins, Bryce Harper, Nick Pivetta
Minor League Good Phil of the Week: Spencer Howard
Since returning from injury, Spencer Howard has quickly established himself as one of the top prospects in the Phillies system. After three great starts in Advanced-A Clearwater, Howard was promoted this week to Double-A Reading. In his first career Double-A game, he allowed one run on four hits in 4.2 innings while striking out 10 batters. It’s the fifth time in his career and second time this season that he’s reached double-digits in strike outs.
Other Minor League Good Phils Receiving Votes:
Phil Gosselin, Logan O’Hoppe
