Photo Gallery: Phillies vs Cubs

Treasure some moments from a nice Phillies win.

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Phillies returned home from a tough road trip hoping to change their luck. Jason Vargas took the mound against the Chicago Cubs in the heat of a playoff chase. Vargas threw six innings, only giving up two runs in the process. He’d factor in as a no-decision, but he was able to get the ball to the bullpen in the seventh.

The offense was paced by J.T. Realmuto, who homered in the fifth and had a clutch RBI double in the seventh that plated Andrew Knapp.

Roman Quinn hit a clutch triple to the wall in the eighth, adding an insurance run for Hector Neris in the ninth. Neris got into a bit of trouble, but got out of it with a grounder to second base to end the game.

The Phillies defeated the Cubs 4-2 to keep pace in the wild card hunt. They return to action on Tuesday as Aaron Nola takes on Cole Hamels.
