The Philadelphia Phillies finished their home stand on Sunday afternoon, looking to take the final game of a three-game set against the Padres. The hometown team got off to the start they wanted, with a RBI double from Jean Segura, who would later double to knot the score at two in the 6th inning.
Jason Vargas threw well, but was lifted in the 6th in favor of a right-on-right matchup. Recently-acquired Jared Hughes gave up a solo home run to Austin Hedges, which would end up being the deciding run.
Bryce Harper was lifted from the game in the 4th inning because of dehydration. The Phillies fell 3-2 to the Padres. The Phillies return to action on Tuesday as they begin a two-game set against the Boston Red Sox.
