Syracuse 11, Lehigh Valley 8

Dan Straily - 2 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, HR, 4 GB, 0 FB
Nick Williams - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI
Maikel Franco - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, RBI
Austin Listi - 2 for 3, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, BB (fielding error)

Sad that 8 runs on 14 hits isn’t quite enough for a win. Aside from an awful Dan Straily start, Josh Tols and JD Hammer combined to give up the other 4 earned runs. Nick Williams keeps doing his thing, including his 9th AAA homer of the season. His slash line is up to .327/.395/.596 with 48 strikeouts in 171 at-bats. Austin Listi hit his 11th homer with LHV and 18th overall this season.

Reading 7, Portland 1

Connor Seabold - 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 6 K, 7 GB, 5 FB
Mickey Moniak - 0 for 4, RBI, K
Alec Bohm - 2 for 5, R, RBI, 2 K
Darick Hall - 1 for 4, R, 2B, 3 K
Josh Stephen - 2 for 4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, K
Nick Maton - 1 for 4, R, 2B, RBI

Make that 3 consecutive quality starts for Seabold who also threw a season-high 93 pitches last night. He has only given up 7 earned runs and has 25 strikeouts to 8 walks in 26 innings since rejoining Reading after a long injury layoff. Josh Stephen got the scoring started with his 11th HR of the season and is slashing .279/.350/.498 as a 21 year old in AA.

Clearwater 4, St. Lucie 1

Andrew Brown - 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 7 GB, 7 FB
Jhailyn Ortiz - 2 for 5, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K
Simon Muzziotti - 2 for 4, RBI, CS
Matt Vierling - 1 for 3, BB
Daniel Brito - 2 for 4

An impressive start for Andrew Brown who has really struggled this season in High-A (6.46 ERA with 61 K to 37 BB in 94.2 innings). Sometimes Jhailyn Ortiz reminds you why he was once a very exciting prospect, smacking homers number 17 and 18 on the season. However, the contact is just still so poor that its hard to even be optimistic anymore.

Lakewood 9, Lexington 1

Erik Miller - 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 K, 3 GB, 5 FB
Taylor Lehman - 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K, 5 GB, 3 FB
Luis Garcia - 1 for 5, BB, 3 K
Malvin Matos - 2 for 5, R, BB, SB
McCarthy Tatum - 1 for 5, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 K, CS
Abraham Gutierrez - 2 for 5, R, RBI
Cole Stobbe - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 K
Carlos De La Cruz - 2 for 5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Ben Pelletier - 1 for 4, R, BB, K (outfield assist, home)
Hunter Stovall - 4 for 5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI
Yerwin Trejo - 3 for 5, R

2019 4th round pick Erik Miller gets promoted to Lakewood and dominates in his debut. Across three levels in his first professional season he has a 1.29 ERA with 41 strikeouts to 9 walks in 28 innings. Cole Stobbe doesn’t hit much, but when he does they go for extra bases. Of his 61 hits, 33 of them are better than a single. His HR last night was his 13th and carries an improbable 41% K-rate through 351 plate appearances. Hunter Stovall added his 1st HR of the 2019 season.
