SB Nation FanPulse Poll: Confidence in team climbs as faith in Gabe Kapler wilts

Still without a big win streak, the Phillies have yet to truly ensnare people’s confidence.

Well, this week, the SB Nation FanPulse poll is showing us a graph of Gabe Kapler’s approval rating, which looks just about exactly as you’d think it would.

A pretty deep downward spike there, given our recent wave of angry mumbling, with a little uptick of a tail at the end there following what I assume is the sweep of the Cubs. Numerically, that’s Kapler going from a 14% to 17% confidence rating among the fans signed up to take part in these polls.

As far as overall team confidence, well, those numbers have climbed a bit too. Seems people are more willing to forgive the team itself for bouts of unsuccessful flailing, whereas Kapler, a polarizing figure in Philadelphia, is less forgivable. Fan confidence is the team is back up to 25% after dropping to 7% last week, quite the climb, but right now this is a fanbase willing to believe that any small, but significant, success could be the start of a run. Mostly because this team has yet to go on a run and you’d think they’d have to accidentally fall into one here with just a couple weeks left in the season.
