Sigh....: Nationals 5, Phillies 2

I mean, what else is there left to say?

The long march to the end of the season is nearing its conclusion. The almost inevitable feeling of ending up below .500 is setting in. This game tonight was a microcosm of it all.

You had Bryce Harper with not one, but TWO hustle doubles tonight in what was pretty much the offensive highlight. Rhys Hoskins getting off of his 0 for 26 schneid by knocking in Harper. Brad Miller continuing his best Shane Spencer impersonation.

Even Drew Smyly with a brilliant 6 13 inning, 10 strikeout performance where he left with the lead.

And then the bullpen.

Listen, you’re all smart enough to know that Mike Morin (who I was loving for a bit there), Jose Alvarez and Juan Nicasio weren’t supposed to be in high leverage situations. They aren’t that good. The injuries have ravaged a promising season.

But this bullpen is just incredibly tough to watch, if not downright predictable. Raise your hand if you didn’t see this relief corps giving the game away.

There just isn’t much to recap here. The Phillies had a lead, the bullpen coughed it up, rinse, repeat. The main goal now is for everyone to make it though the rest of the season hea-
