While Phillies fans are already mourning the passing of the legendary Dick Allen, more sad news comes our way. Denis Menke, the team’s former batting coach also died earlier this month.
Phillies news
- Menke was the hitting coach for the 1993 National League championship team, and along with bullpen coach Mike Ryan and infielder Kim Batiste, is the third member of that team to pass away this year.
- Would the Zack Wheeler rumors have happened if the Phillies had a president of baseball operations who was actually invested in his job?
- Dick Allen never made it into the MLB Hall of Fame, but he was a member of the Negro League Baseball Museum’s Hall of Game.
MLB news
- Former Phillies first baseman Carlos Santana has found a new home in Kansas City.
- Zack Wheeler might not be on the trade market, but Lance Lynn certainly was, since he’s been traded to the White Sox.
- It might not have the same prestige as the MVP awards both men won last month, but Freddie Freeman and Jose Abreu also took home the Hank Aaron Award for 2020.
Rumor roundup
- The White Sox don’t appear to be finished with their offseason shopping:
Sounds like despite adding Lynn & Eaton, the #WhiteSox aren't through shopping, according to teams & agents they've talked to.

Not out yet on Michael Brantley. And could still add another starting pitcher.
