Sunday night the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention released a statement recommending against events with more than 50 people for the next eight weeks. In response to that recommendation, Rob Manfred and Major League Baseball announced today that they will be pushing back the opening of the 2020 regular season.

Eight weeks from today will be May 11. Opening Day was previously scheduled for March 26. There is still no information about what other changes will be made to accommodate the delayed start.
