Today was supposed to be the Phillies real home opener. It’s a beautiful day outside and we were all supposed to be basking in this glory and watching the team open Citizens Bank Park with a bang.
As you know, things haven’t exactly gone according to plan. Instead of basking in the South Philadelphia sunshine, you’re stuck inside watching “Tiger King” and Law and Order reruns. Luckily for you, the SimPhillies played today and guess what - VICTORY!
The friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park were agreeable to most everyone in the lineup as they feasted on the hollowed out Brewers pitching staff, putting up 16 hits and 10 runs to take their home opener, 10-3.

The thundersticks were brought today as well. Home runs by Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins and the indefatigable Roman Quinn led the charge as the early season slumber by the middle of the order was awoken by the sweet smell of soft pretzels, crab fries and Yuengling.
Harper especially was the one to get off the schneid, adding an RBI double to his home run. Once he gets going, this offense will begin to roll.

On the pitching side, the team got a good solid outing from Jake Arrieta, who went 5 1⁄3 innings, giving up only five hits, one walk and two runs, striking out five in the process. Ranger Suarez continues to be used heavily, something that we’re gonna change in the usage patterns (hello, Adam Morgan!).
Tomorrow, the Phillies are off, so as they sit now, they’re off to a pretty good start.
