The Phillies close out the night by drafting an outfielder that strikes out a lot. Baron Radcliff, an outfielder out of Georgia Tech, is the Phillies’ fifth round pick and closes out an exciting night for new scouting director Brian Barber.
Scouts see the really high strikeout rate and raise an eyebrow or two. However, he does have some power, giving the team a nice tool that rates as a building block that can be used to help mold into perhaps an everyday outfielder.
It ends an impressive draft for the Phillies considering they didn’t have a 2nd rounder. Now we just wait and see if they can sign them all.
