OOTP 7/1: Another double dip

Just the facts here, folks

MLB: San Diego Padres at Philadelphia Phillies Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Game 1: Padres 6, Phillies 3

Kind of a blah game overall. Zach Eflin wasn’t that good in Game 1, allowing 5 runs in four innings, including the big blow in the second inning to Francisco Mejia that paved the way to a four spot for the Padres that proved to be the biggest difference maker.

Bryce Harper continued his hot hitting ways by hitting his 23rd home run of the year and collecting his 66th and 67th runs batted in in the process.

Game 2: Phillies 7, Padres 3

In this game, Vince Velasquez was the pitching hero, going 5 13 effective innings, despite being preposterously being able to hurl 124 pitches.

The offense, sans Harper who had the night off, put up 11 hits and seven runs, led by the still chugging along Jay Bruce, who ripped his 26th home run. Harper did make it into the game as a pinch hitter and drilled an RBI double that gave him 68 RBI on the season.

The teams meet again tomorrow night.
