Welcome to the offseason friends. We’re going to do a daily news and notes section during the offseason where we’ll round up the major issues we find about your Phillies, some of the rumors around the game, and news from Major League Baseball at large.
Phillies news:
- Now that the offseason is here, all eyes are centered on one man: J.T. Realmuto. His contract negotiations will take center stage and dominate the team’s plans for 2021 and beyond. One player has been vocal all year about him and continued to be the same on Sunday.
- Are you looking for a bright spot amongs the morass that is the bullpen? Here’s one: Connor Brogdon might be something.
- There’s a deep, deep problem ($) with the Phillies as they head into the offseason.
MLB news:
- The matchups are set. Here are the times for the wild card round (?) set to begin on Tuesday.
- Sadly, Terry Francona will not be a part of that round for the Indians. Sandy Alomar will instead manage the team.
- Ron Roenicke will not return to manage the Red Sox. Are they looking at an old friend?
- The Angels let go their general manager because he couldn’t build around Mike Trout.
