While most of baseball fandom enjoys a good slugfest more than a pitching duel, sign me up for two aces battling each other on a bright afternoon day. Today, the Phillies and Mets are kind enough to provide us with this kind of pitching matchup, sending their best to the mound to face off against one another. Yes, the pitchers aren’t exactly facing each other, they’re facing the opposing offenses, it’s not difficult to imagine each one seeing what the other is doing, then heading out to one up the other. Let’s hope this one lives up to its hype.

Seeing the lineup and knowing it’s not at full capacity for a game like deGrom kind of stinks, but Realmuto has been struggling of late and could probably use a day off completely rather than DH duties.

For the Mets:

Let’s talk about the only one of the four major sports still playing in Philadelphia before football talk dominates once again.
