Last night, we saw a cryptic message from Didi Gregorius that was since deleted.
Today it looks like we know what he was talking about and it’s a good thing. Didi Gregorius is coming back to the Phillies.

Getting Gregorius takes care of most of the check marks for the team this offseason, check marks that we weren’t sure were going to be filled. At the outset, we wondered if anyone was coming to Philadelphia let along re-signing the two players that seemed to matter most in Gregorius and J.T. Realmuto.
Enter Dave Dombrowski.
Whatever he has communicated to John Middleton about the ability to sign the players on palatable deals (we still don’t know what Gregorius is signed for), it seems to have worked. Either that or the team has some idea about what the number of fans in the stands will be allowed and is using that to project what revenues will be.
Who cares.
Outside of maybe a few more relievers to be added to the team, it looks like they’re about done with the major acquisitions. Well done, Dave.
