The offseason is coming to a close. Spring training games are drawing nearer, which means that the news is starting to slow down. There might be some things trickle here and there, but for the most part, rosters are set. Moves have been made, rumors are nil.
With the Phillies, the focus has begun to shift to how players look in camp, how they’re performing thus far against pitching, etc. It’s time to feel alive!
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- Listening to Bryce Harper about this offseason ($) and the excitement he has, the happiness he has is palpable.
- Alec Bohm’s defense is going to be in the spotlight all year.
- It’s looking likely that the team will have at least some fans to begin the season in Philadelphia.
MLB news:
- Gerrit Cole is the latest player that is getting vocal about the comments made by former Mariners CEO Kevin Mather. I’d expect Cole to be joined by many others as the CBA deadline draws nearer.
- Not only do we have news about Juan Soto and Trea Turner and possible extensions, but we have a Scott Kazmir sighting!
- This piece about Mather from Baseball Prospectus is very good and you should read it. Not sure if it’s behind a paywall; it wasn’t yesterday.
Rumor roundup:
- Anibal Sanchez has gotten some offers, but he’s being cautious for now about signing.
- Trevor Story hasn’t heard anything about an extension with the Rockies.
