Uniforms are one of the greatest identifiers for sports teams. They’re a crucial aspect of an organization’s identity. But who has the best uniforms in Major League Baseball? Here is The Good Phight’s official ranking of the best and worst home uniforms in Major League Baseball.

(Keep an eye out later for our official ranking of the best and worst away and alternate uniforms!)

30. Cleveland Indians

Highest Rank: 16

Lowest Rank: 30

Our Thoughts: Francisco Lindor can make just about anything uniform look good, but unfortunately for Cleveland even he can’t make their uniforms exciting.

29. Arizona Diamondbacks

Highest Rank: 18

Lowest Rank: 30

Our Thoughts: Arizona certainly gets bonus points for having their nickname on the front of their jerseys, but otherwise there’s just nothing special about these.

28. Atlanta Braves

Highest Rank: 23

Lowest Rank: 26

Our Thoughts: In keeping with the theme of the uniforms at the bottom of this list, these Braves uniforms are simply uninspiring.

27. Houston Astros

Highest Rank: 19

Lowest Rank: 29

Our Thoughts: The Astros have such a cool color combination to work with, it’s a shame that they don’t bring much of it into their home uniforms.

26. Texas Rangers

Highest Rank: 16

Lowest Rank: 30

Our Thoughts: The lettering on the back of these Rangers uniforms stands out from the crowd, but unfortunately the rest just blends in.

25. Washington Nationals

Highest Rank: 8

Lowest Rank: 28

Our Thoughts: The Nationals seem to rarely wear these uniforms (which is why we had to dig deep and use a photo of Bryce in them), and that’s probably for the best. The curly W is a cool logo, but otherwise these uniforms themselves are a bit boring.

24. Tampa Bay Rays

Highest Rank: 10

Lowest Rank: 27

Our Thoughts: The navy blue in these uniforms looks pretty cool, especially in the little details like the piping. But overall, these are lacking in both imagination and creativity.

23. Cincinnati Reds

Highest Rank: 8

Lowest Rank: 29

Our Thoughts: The piping is especially successful on these uniforms, and there’s just enough color in them to pay homage to the team’s name without being overbearing.

22.Baltimore Orioles

Highest Rank: 15

Lowest Rank: 25

Our Thoughts: The Orioles benefit from having a unique color scheme, which helps them stand out from the competition. However, we can’t help but feel like they could have done more with their uniforms.

21. Minnesota Twins

Highest Rank: 10

Lowest Rank: 29

Our Thoughts: The star detail of these uniforms is the red lettering around the logo on the chest, which helps the name pop off the white background.

20. Los Angeles Angels

Highest Rank: 14

Lowest Rank: 27

Our Thoughts: There’s only so many times that a basic red-on-white theme can be done without the uniforms ending up looking the same, no matter what the team. The numbering is cool on these, though.

19.Boston Red Sox

Highest Rank: 9

Lowest Rank: 23

Our Thoughts: The Red Sox home uniforms are classic and clean, though they’re a bit uninspiring. Though not shown in this photo, they do get bonus points for actually wearing red socks.

18. St. Louis Cardinals

Highest Rank: 9

Lowest Rank: 22

Our Thoughts: The Cardinals have a pretty cool jersey logo and make good use of both the bat and the birds. They also get bonus points for their unique socks.

17. San Diego Padres

Highest Rank: 1

Lowest Rank: 28

Our Thoughts: These are without a doubt the most polarizing uniforms within The Good Phight. Brown pinstripes are definitely a bold choice, but paired with the yellow accents these Padres uniforms make the most of them.

16. Kansas City Royals

Highest Rank: 4

Lowest Rank: 28

Our Thoughts: It definitely helps Kansas City’s case that the shade of blue in these uniforms matches with their team name. The shade pops especially well against such a stark-white background.

15. New York Mets

Highest Rank: 6

Lowest Rank: 26

Our Thoughts: These uniforms are proof that anyone can pull off a pinstripe uniform, even the Mets. The orange accents area nice touch, too.

14. Toronto Blue Jays

Highest Rank: 8

Lowest Rank: 20

Our Thoughts: The most interesting detail in these uniforms is the mirroring of the double blue line down the pant leg with the double blue line in the “Blue Jays” across the chest.

13. Oakland Athletics

Highest Rank: 3

Lowest Rank: 28

Our Thoughts: The A’s really benefit from having a great color scheme to work with and, though these uniforms are basic in design, that’s what makes them very pleasing to look at.

12. Pittsburgh Pirates

Highest Rank: 1

Lowest Rank: 22

Our Thoughts: The Pirates have other uniforms that are better than their homes, but these are not to be overlooked. The font of their numbers might be the most underrated detail.

11. Detroit Tigers

Cleveland Indians v Detroit Tigers Photo by Mark Cunningham/MLB Photos via Getty Images

Highest Rank: 4

Lowest Rank: 29

Our Thoughts: Unlike other teams, the Tigers don’t need to tell you on their chest what their team’s name is or where they play and that makes them different from most of the other uniforms they’re up against.

10. San Francisco Giants

Highest Rank: 2

Lowest Rank: 22

Our Thoughts: The Giants get bonus points for not having a white home uniform like everyone else (except the Brewers), but we can’t help but think they should have included more orange in the overall look.

9. New York Yankees

Miami Marlins v New York Yankees Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 2

Lowest Rank: 17

Our Thoughts: There is a reason why these uniforms have barely changed over the years. They’re iconic.

8. Seattle Mariners

Houston Astros v Seattle Mariners Photo by Abbie Parr/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 4

Lowest Rank: 23

Our Thoughts: The Mariners are definitely in the category of “team color scheme helps the overall aesthetic.” These are definitely not their best uniforms, but they’re still pretty cool.

7. Chicago Cubs

Minnesota Twins v Chicago Cubs Photo by Nuccio DiNuzzo/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 3

Lowest Rank: 17

Our Thoughts: The Cubs introduced Major League Baseball to the concept of pinstripes in 1907 and for that they deserve a hearty “thank you.” They are, without a doubt, the best blue pinstripes in the league.

6. Los Angeles Dodgers

Los Angeles Angels v Los Angeles Dodgers Photo by John McCoy/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 1

Lowest Rank: 20

Our Thoughts: Like the Yankees, the Dodgers’ home uniforms haven’t changed much over the years and for a good reason. Don’t try to fix what isn’t broken.

5. Milwaukee Brewers

St Louis Cardinals v Milwaukee Brewers Photo by Dylan Buell/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 1

Lowest Rank: 15

Our Thoughts: Not many teams have cream-colored home uniforms, which makes Milwaukee’s stand out from the crowd. Paired with their navy blue and gold, these make a unique and fun overall look.

4. Philadelphia Phillies

Washington Nationals v Philadelphia Phillies Photo by Hunter Martin/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 5

Lowest Rank: 11

Our Thoughts: Maybe it’s our bias showing or maybe it’s just an undisputed fact, but pinstripes look outstanding in red, especially under the Citizens Bank Park lights. The Phillies also get bonus points for being the only red pinstripes in the entire league, an iconic look they have been rocking since the 1920s.

3. Colorado Rockies

Highest Rank: 2

Lowest Rank: 13

Our Thoughts: The Rockies definitely get bonus points for being the only team in MLB to use the color purple in their logo and in their uniforms, though the pinstripes on their home set are actually black. Regardless, it’s hard to argue against the fact that these just look good.

2. Miami Marlins

Washington Nationals v Miami Marlins - Game One Photo by Mark Brown/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 4

Lowest Rank: 13

Our Thoughts: The best part about these Marlins uniforms is that, despite being so beautiful to look at, they aren’t even the best ones in their set. Miami definitely has great taste in uniform design.

1. Chicago White Sox

Minnesota Twins v Chicago White Sox Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images

Highest Rank: 2

Lowest Rank: 12

Our Thoughts: The White Sox have taken the classic look of the black pinstripes and added some more modern details to give them the best home uniforms in all of Major League Baseball.
