I used to love Sunday Night Baseball. Jon Miller and Joe Morgan were great together and it always felt like a treat being able to watch their calls on games because, for reason, it felt like an event. Two dudes calling a game, one one of the greatest players of his time, the other one of the best play by play guys of his time.
ESPN has changed quite a bit since those days and none of it for the better. The games are fine, but listening to actual broadcast is just horrible. The announcers are brutally bad and the microphone is entirely too close to the plate, making the resulting contact sound like your in the middle of the battle of Antietam.
Luckily for us, the Phillies are the choice this week to be the game of the week, finalizing their series against the Braves and hoping to avoid a sweep. Here is their lineup:
Matt Moore will try and last a little longer than he did his last time out, but he’ll be facing a lineup that is starting to heat up. Here is the Braves’ lineup:
The Phillies will get their first look at Drew Smyly in a Braves uniform as they try to snap out of an offensive snooze. They did well last night, but the inconsistency of the offense has been an issue.
Let’s talk about together shall we?
