After a deflating loss last night, the Phillies look to rebound today in a matinee with the Mets. The soft underbelly of their bullpen - the long relievers - were exposed last night to the wrecking ball of the Mets offense. Vince Velasquez and David Hale showed why they’ll mostly be completing low leverage innings in 2021, creating messes for themselves that put the game out of reach. The offense for the Phillies continued their early season power outage, staying stuck on one home run for the team so far this season.
Here are the lineups. For the Phillies:
Aaron Nola makes his second start for the team, coming off the heels of a fabulous Opening Day start against the Braves. He’ll face this lineup from the Mets:
David Peterson makes his own season debut, taking on a linuep that is looking for more production out of the middle of the lineup.
It’ll be a beautiful day out, so let’s sit back and enjoy it together.
