Scranton/WB 6, Lehigh Valley 0
Spencer Howard - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K, 3 GB, 2 FB
Damon Jones - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Jeff Singer - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Mickey Moniak - 0 for 4, 2 K
Austin Listi - 0 for 4, K
Darick Hall - 1 for 3, K
Rafael Marchan - 1 or 3, 2B, K
Luke Williams - 1 for 2, BB, K
Spencer Howard with another spectacular start as he gets stretched out again as a starter. That is now two scoreless appearances. Sadly, Ramon Rosso gave up all six of the runs in the 4th inning of relief where he failed to get out of the inning while giving up 2 hits, 2 walks and hitting 2 batters. Luke Williams, oddly hitting 9th in the lineup, extended his hitting streak to 7 games and is slashing .444/.500/.556 in 27 at-bats.
Bowie 6, Reading 1
Francisco Morales - 3 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, 6 K, HR, WP, HBP, 2 GB, 0 FB
James McArthur - 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 K, HR, 4 GB, 1 FB
Arquimedes Gamboa - 1 for 3, BB, K, SB
Daniel Brito - 0 for 3, BB, K
Matt Vierling - 1 for 4, K
Josh Stephen 0 for 4, 4 K
Rodolfo Duran - 2 for 4
Now this is NOT the start we wanted from our third best pitching prospect. Morales has been lit up for 9 total runs in his two starts to begin the season. On the plus side he is still missing bats with 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. The offense was mostly quiet, compiling just five hits and going 0 for 4 with RISP.
Wilmington 3, Jersey Shore 2
Noah Skirrow - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K, 6 GB, 1 FB
Kevin Gowdy - 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 2 K, 3 GB, 1 FB
Victor Santos - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, K, 6 GB, 0 FB (throwing error)
Jonathan Guzman - 0 for 5, 2 K
Bryson Stott - 2 for 4, BB, K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1 for 4, R, BB, K
Logan O’Hoppe - 1 for 3, BB, K
Herbert Iser - 1 for 3, HR, BB, K
Noah Skirrow makes his pro-debut. He is a Canadian undrafted free agent. The stuff isn’t overpowering, but features some decent breaking pitches. Kevin Gowdy rebounds with a solid outing after getting beat up in his season debut. The BlueClaws tied up the game in the top of the 9th with Iser’s first HR of the season. Sadly, Aneurys Zabala came on in relief in the 10th and allowed a walk-off sac-fly. Bryson Stott nabs his first multi-hit game in this early season.
Clearwater 10, Fort Myers 2
Mick Abel - 2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 3 K, HR, 3 GB, 1 FB
Johan Rojas - 2 for 5, 2 R, RBI, 2 SB
Luis Garcia - 0 for 4, R, BB, 3 K
Casey Martin - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB, K, 2 SB
DJ Stewart - 3 for 5, 2B, HR, 4 RBI
Abrahan Gutierrez - 2 for 5, R, 2B
Baron Radcliff - 1 for 5, HR, 2 RBI, K
Ben Pelletier - 1 for 5, R, 2B, 2 K
Rixon Wingrove - 2 for 5, 2B, 2 K
Nicolas Torres - 1 for 4, R, 3B, RBI, K
Mick Abel still adjusting to pro ball, but the stuff was apparently looking better this time out (reportedly up to 98 according to blog friend MattWinks). Thankfully the offense exploded behind him and the rest of the pitching combing for 14 hits. 2020 5th Round Pick Baron Radcliff made his pro debut and his first hit was a homer. DJ Stewart added his 2nd dinger of the season and his quietly batting .400 in the early-going. Catching prospect Abrahan Gutierrez is quietly slashing .368/.478/.579 in 19 at-bats.
