The team finally did what had to be done, freeing up a 40-man roster spot by outfighting Scott Kingery.
Phillies have outrighted Scott Kingery to AAA. He cleared waivers and is off 40 man roster.

If there are any Kingery defenders out there, know this: this had to be done. The team is going to be in dogfight for a playoff spot this summer and they’ll need to make some moves to add to the roster. They also have some players that are coming back and will need roster spots as well, players that the team clearly thinks can help them more than Kingery. Therefore, he had to be taken off the 40-man. They offered him around the league through waivers, but no one wanted him. Now, he can go to Lehigh Valley, get at bats and try to salvage a career.
There is no doubt he is a good guy. He’s still got talent and if he figures it out, he can still do some good things on the baseball field. But right now, he’s doing nothing to help them win. His roster spot is more valuable to the team than his trying to put it all together. So the team finally ripped off the band aid and did what had to be done.
What this means for the roster, we don’t know yet. A trade? A signing? A promotion? We won’t know yet, but we’ll probably find out in a few days, but for now, he correct move as made.
