Lehigh Valley 14, Worcester 5
Chase Anderson - 5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, WP, 7 GB, 6 FB
Odubel Herrera - 3 for 4, R, RBI, BB (outfield assist, 3B)
Rafael Marchan - 1 for 5, K
Dalton Guthrie - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, RBI, K (throwing error)
Matt Vierling - 1 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI, K
Chase Anderson earns a win in an offensive blowout. Sadly, expect to see him next week in a Phillies uniform if these COVID related absences persist. It would be my personal choice to never see him with the Phillies again if it were possible. Odubel Herrera taking in a rehab start and looked good, which is the opposite of what he was looking before the injury. Ryan Cordell hit his 12th HR if you are into that. Dalton Guthrie’s obliteration of AAA pitching continues. He is slashing .362/.400/.543 in 94 at-bats since being promoted.
Reading 9, New Hampshire 8
Francisco Morales - 2 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 BB, K, WP, HBP, 1 GB, 4 FB
Daniel Brito - 3 for 5, 2 R, RBI, BB (fielding error)
Arquimedes Gamboa - 1 for 3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB
Bryson Stott - 2 for 5, R, 2B
Jorge Bonifacio - 0 for 4, BB, K
Madison Stokes - 2 for 5, R, RBI, 2 K
Rodolfo Duran - 3 for 5, R, K
Well, Francisco Morales’ run of good starts comes to an end. Reading was actually down 6-0 heading into the 5th inning before they started crawling back. Gamboa hit his 7th HR of the season, a 3-run blast in the 5th to get the comeback started.
Winston-Salem 6, Jersey Shore 0
Jonathan Hughes - 5 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 K, HBP, 10 GB, 3 FB
Logan O’Hoppe - 0 for 3, BB, CS
DJ Stewart - 0 for 3, BB, K
Jhailyn Ortiz - 1 for 4, K
Casey Martin - 0 for 2, BB, 2 K, CS
Vito Friscia - 0 for 3, K
Jonathan Hughes actually pitches into the 5th inning for just the 2nd time this season, but takes his 4th loss. The offense behind him was quite bad, combining for just 2 hits with none of them reaching scoring position.
Clearwater 12, Tampa 6
Rodolfo Sanchez - 3.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, HR, 3 GB, 2 FB
Fernando Lozano - 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, K, 4 GB, 1 FB
Luis Garcia - 1 for 4, R, RBI, 2 BB (fielding error)
Jadiel Sanchez - 2 for 5, 2 R, HR, HBP (outfield assist, 3B)
Nicolas Torres - 2 for 5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K (throwing error)
Rixon Wingrove - 2 for 6, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, K
Abrahan Gutierrez - 1 for 2, 4 R, HR, 2 BB, K, HBP
Baron Radcliff - 1 for 3, R, BB, K, HBP
Marcus Lee Sang - 0 for 4, 2 RBI, BB, K
Micah Yonamine - 0 for 2, R, 3 RBI, 3 BB, K
Jose Tortolero - 0 for 5, 2 K
The Threshers impressively had more walks (10) than hits (9) in this fun win. 20 year old outfielder Jadiel Sanchez has been impressive in his first 14 games with Clearwater and is slashing .319/.407/.426. His homer last night was his first full-season HR of his career. Speaking of impressive, Abraham Gutierrez continues to kill it. The 21 year old catcher is slashing .280/.415/.416 with 5 homers this season. If it wasn’t for Logan O’Hoppe in Jersey Shore, I’d imagine he would have been promoted already.
