After dropping the opening game of Thursday’s doubleheader to the Nationals thanks to Yan Gomes and Max Scherzer, the Phillies will try to fare better in the second game.
Vince Velasquez was originally scheduled to start on Thursday, but the team has stated that he won’t be doing that anymore. Instead, they’ll go with Christopher Sanchez who was recalled to serve as the team’s 27th man.

The Nationals will presumably stick with their original plan of using lefty Patrick Corbin as their starter. Their lineup will still be depleted, but that apparently doesn’t matter as much when the opposing team can only manage three hits in a game.
Game time is 2:50 PM and will be televised locally by NBC Sports Philadelphia.
