An active day for the Phillies. We’ve all had time to sit a digest how they improved their roster, getting Kyle Gibson, Ian Kennedy and Freddy Galvis to add to the big league team and hopefully set them up for a better shot at the division. While they won’t take the field tonight, someone has to play for the Phillies!

They’ll renew the Pennsylvania rivalry, taking on the Pirates for the first time since 2019. Surely, we are all alike in wanting these two teams to play each other more often, yearning for the rivalries of old, but we’ll have to settle for only seeing them six or seven times a year. Here are the lineups. For the Phillies:

Vince Velasquez will make one of the (hopefully) final starts as a Phillie now that Gibson will be in town.

For the Pirates:

You just know that a team like the Pirates will give the Phillies fits over this series. They always do and always will.

Let’s talk about it.
