The IronPigs eek out a win. Vince Velasquez still on “rehab” and will likely re-join the Phillies at some point this month. I’m sure we are all real excited.

Reading 2, Hartford 1 (GM2 of DH, makeup of 9/1 ppd)
Adam Leverett - 6.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K, HBP, 3 GB, 5 FB

Matt Joyce - 0 for 3, K
Logan O’Hoppe - 2 for 3, HR, K
Dalton Guthrie - 2 for 4, RBI, 2 K
Excellent doubleheader sweep by the Fightin’s behind fantastic pitching performances. Both Leverett and McArthur have struggled a bit in AA, so this was nice to see. Someone who has not struggled since being promoted to Reading, Logan O’Hoppe launched his 2nd HR and 15th overall this season. Bryson Stott added his 8th and 9th stolen bases.
Aberdeen 9, Jersey Shore 1
Victor Vargas - 3.2 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HR, 2 WP, 0 GB, 5 FB
Johan Rojas - 2 for 3, BB
Luis Garcia - 2 for 4, K
DJ Stewart - 2 for 4, K
Nicolas Torres - 2 for 4, R, 2B, SB
Victor Vargas has struggled in High-A to the tune of a 9.12 ERA in 25.2 innings this season. Sadly, his performance didn’t matter that much since the offense couldn’t quite figure out how to plate runners in scoring position. They were 0 for 9 with RISP and even out-hit Aberdeen 13 to 8. As you see above, Rojas and Garcia received promotions from Clearwater.
